Complex design issues solved in high profile, luxury
project
In keeping with its expansion into shopping malls, luxury goods
retailer Louis Vuitton elected to open its first Australian non-CBD
store at Westfield in Bondi Junction. ISIS was given eight weeks to
deliver a project that involved intricate fitout components,
international stakeholders, no option of delayed completion and
close public scrutiny. This was the first time Louis Vuitton had
appointed an external contractor for both the main fitout and the
intricate façade. The key to on time delivery was manpower. ISIS
worked around-the-clock, with a team of up to 40 people working on
the 115 square metre site.
Substantial mid-project design variations
A major challenge was the design variations that resulted from a
combination of intricate, custom built components and incomplete
documentation. Over 100 design variations were logged across this
eight week project, requiring input from our team that went far
beyond the scope of the original brief. In particular, the
complex glass curtain wall façade involved international logistics,
design and construction issues. As the construction site was in the
middle of a busy, high-end retail area, the ISIS team also applied
rigorous measures to minimise risk and disruption.
