Restaurant refit hits the right spot
If Melbourne is Australia’s food Mecca, then Rockpool is
debatably its high temple. With a reputation like that, it was
unsurprising that ISIS should be chosen to head up a task force
charged with a major refurbishment.
Working to a complex design by awarding-winning Melbourne
architects, ISIS overcame a series of challenges that included:
- Complex structural steelwork
- Tight timeframe and noise restrictions
- Incorporation of heavy frameless operable windows
The two-phase project covered the refurbishment of the main 186
seat restaurant and the enclosure and fitout of a restaurant in an
existing terrace. The intricate nature of the restaurant required a
range of functions beyond the dining area; a new bar, a refurbished
commercial kitchen and a display cool room, including an oyster
preparation area and a crustacean tank.
