The pop up art and poetry gallery built by ISIS for Moving
Galleries has spent the last 10 days at the Royal Melbourne Show
surrounded by show bags, baby animals and wood choppers.
Moving Galleries’ pop up gallery moved to the show after spending
a month at Flinders Street Station and three weeks in the busy
foyer at 530 Collins Street. During its first few months, more than
5,000 people have viewed the artwork and poetry, and hundreds of
people have cast votes in the People’s Choice Awards.
A large number of votes have also been cast at the show using the
voting boxes built by ISIS. Many show goers have also stopped to
read the poems, view the artworks and investigate the eye-catching
six metre high ART and POETRY sculptures.
The pop up gallery was designed in collaboration with architect
Daniel Dalla Riva of 6 Hats, and ISIS built it to be used in a
variety of locations from busy CBD office foyers to larger spaces
like the show.
The current exhibition features 18 artworks from Arts Project
Australia and 30 poems selected from a public submission process.
The collection of artwork and poetry is showcased on 11 white
gallery displays, which are complemented by two large ART and
POETRY sculptures.
The current exhibition will head to a number of CBD locations
before it arrives at Federation Square in February for the final
showing and the announcement of the People’s Choice Awards.
If you can’t visit the pop up gallery in person, you can view the
entire collection at the Moving Galleries website and vote for your
favourite artwork and poem for a chance to win a $500 prize.
