At ISIS, we believe in contributing to the
community.
In addition to our relationship and major fundraising efforts
with the Bone Health Foundation, we also support a number of
organisations and not-for-profits in each state. One of these
is the Darren
Lehmann Cricket Academy (DLCA) in South Australia.
In 2010, ISIS and the DLCA, an initiative of the South
Australian Cricket Association, developed the ISIS Carl Hooper
Scholarship. The Scholarship, named after the former West
Indies Captain, offers promising young cricketers from the West
Indies the opportunity to improve their cricket skills through
intense training with the DLCA .
The first recipient of the scholarship was 17 year old Kavem Hodge
from the West Indies who was chosen for his leadership abilities as
well as his cricketing talent. Kavem trained with the DLCA
from November 2010 until the end of January 2011. At the end
of his time at the DLCA he stated "This Academy has helped prepare
me not only physically but mentally and I feel much more confident
in myself and in my game". Since leaving the Academy, Kavem
has represented the West Indies U/19s in Dubai and India.
The 2011/2012 recipient of the ISIS Carl Hooper Scholarship,
Hayden Walsh from Antigua, started at the DLCA in November 2011 and
is currently playing for Sturt District Cricket Club. Carl
Hooper believes he will be a super star and is destined to play
test cricket for the West Indies.
Congratulations Hayden!
