ISIS has come a long way in its twenty one year history.
From three small offices in Canberra, Sydney and Melbourne it
has grown to become Australia’s largest national commercial
interiors company. It has completed more than $3 billion in
projects and now has offices in all of Australia’s mainland capital
cities. From 30 people in 1989 it has grown to employing over 500
people today.
1989
- ISIS was formed as a joint venture between Wormald and
six individual founding shareholders.
- Operations commenced in Canberra, Melbourne and Sydney on
16 October, 1989.
- Established as a specialist commercial interiors Building
Contractor and Construction Manager.
1990 – 1994
- Severe recession hits Australian economy
- Economic Recovery
- Founders acquire Wormald’s 40% share in
business
1995
A comprehensive five year Business Plan is developed.
The key initiatives in the plan are:
- New state operations to be established in Queensland and
Western Australia
- Appoint an independent Board of Directors
- Seek a professional investor
- Implement succession plan
1996 – 2000
- Geographic expansion commences in 1996
- Independent Board established 1996
- National Australia Investment Capital Limited (NAB)
acquires 20% of ISIS
- Succession Planning commences
- Staff Equity program begins
- Hong Kong Joint Venture
2001 – 2005
- Continuing geographic expansion and succession
planning
- Niche market operations commence (Hotel, Retail, Science
etc)
- Advent Private Capital acquires 35% of ISIS
2006 – 2009
- Building corporate capability to take ISIS to the next
level
- The ‘Path to Perfect Safety’ begins
- Sister company relationships develop with Shawmut
(Boston) and Morgan Sindall (Britain)
- Global Financial Crisis (ouch!)
2010 – 2011
- Moving up the food chain - becoming a solutions based
business rather than a reactive one.
