RMIT School of Science - Melbourne Quality laboratory fitout Complex Build
close

This was effectively a start-again brief from the customer as existing facilities in the Science Building at RMIT University in Melbourne had become dilapidated. The thirteenth floor was to be gutted and a fully functional teaching laboratory for up to 180 students was to be constructed.

ISIS also needed to coordinate all works in close consultation with integrated roof plant upgrades. Throughout the project ISIS built all safety facilities such as eye, hand and shower washers to cater for large student numbers.

The $3.5 million transformation of the entire floor consisted of a number of different laboratories including a food preparation laboratory which was essentially a commercial grade kitchen with 22 work points, a sensory laboratory for food testing, a series of environmental cool rooms ranging in temperature from -30 degrees to 40 degrees and two teaching labs. These facilities were supported with wash up and preparation rooms, chemical stores and an autoclave sterilisation room.

All works were completed within the timeframe and budgets specified a result befitting of a university that demands high standards.
