Park Hyatt Hotel – Canberra Heritage-listed location Art Deco charm
close

Canberra’s finest international five star hotel is a graceful, heritage-listed building located in the national capital’s parliamentary triangle. It has now been restored to its art deco charm, elevating the hotel to the prestigious Park Hyatt status.

ISIS was appointed as Head Contractor in a Lump Sum capacity to carry out refurbishment works to 133 existing guest rooms and we completed the project in 18 weeks. Largely, our communications were with the hotel owner who was our customer and key decision maker. The hotel operator was also a major stakeholder.

As with many other hotel refurbishments we have carried out, the customer emphasised the need to keep the hotel operating normally while we worked. In reality, this made a significant difference to timeframes but our close interaction with the customer allowed for an extension of time so that the quality of the end program wasn’t compromised.

The transformation was extensive, involving the removal and disposal of existing furniture, modification of existing electrical services, the supply of internal fittings such as frameless glass shower screens, lights and bathroom fittings and custom curtain pelmets.

The hotel’s maintenance contractors were inducted into our safety programme so that they could paint al the corridors while we worked. Any coordination issues were resolved during our weekly ‘toolbox talks’.

Inspired by the resolution of any quality issues as we went, the customer was able to reopen the rooms for business on the same day we handed them over.
