Just over an hour from Sydney, within a picturesque coastal village, is Crowne Plaza Terrigal, a stunning beachfront resort where classic surrounds are combined with modern comforts. ISIS was appointed Head Contractor in a Lump Sum Contract capacity to carry out refurbishment works to 194 rooms over six floors. The project ran for 40 weeks to a budget of $5.5 million.
The hotel owner was our customer and the key decision maker. The other major party was the hotel operator. Using our project process of regular ‘toolbox talks’, we were able to set up a close working relationship with both parties that paid dividends.
The transformation took into account the need to work around day-to-day operations of the hotel. We set up all deliveries and noisy works to happen at times that best suited the hotel. We also integrated their painting works to occur alongside our construction by inducting their maintenance workers into the ISIS safety programme.
As part of the project, we constructed three rooms from scratch including new mechanical works, fire and hydraulic services. Quality inspections were carried out at every stage of the project and this meant that we were able to hand over the rooms defect-free within the timeframe.
Inspired by the fit and finish of the final product, the customer was able to stock the rooms during the last two days of our contract period and have them up and running for business on the handover day.
