Nobu Restaurant - Crown Casino, Melbourne Global collaboration Bespoke Masterpiece
close

Part of the international Nobu empire of restaurants, Nobu at Crown Melbourne was a masterpiece of fine bespoke fitouts and refurbishments.

Communication was paramount for the success of the project, as the collaboration spanned the globe, from lead architects the Rockwell Group in New York to the extensive trade packages associated with the interiors.

ISIS was engaged in a Lump Sum Contract capacity and commissioned to procure mock-ups, materials, fixtures and custom items from the US, Brazil, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Israel, the Philippines and Japan to meet the exacting design standards.

James Packer laid a clear mandate for minimal disruption to existing and surrounding businesses in the Crown complex. And, of course, outstanding build quality.

Using meticulous project management, ISIS transformed the existing basement and ground floor tenancies within the Crown complex.

The refurbishment and fitout scope included a new 160-seat restaurant, a new bar and lounge for 100 patrons, new commercial kitchen and sushi kitchen and a new bar with adjacent preparatory kitchen as well as major modifications to the existing brasserie kitchen.

Working across time zones and procuring unique custom materials such as the monogrammed glass-fronted sushi counters or the backlit Persian onyx panels was a challenge all parties took on with gusto.

This inspired space was a superb outcome and the owners (including Robert De Niro) described ISIS as "professional, flexible, adaptable and great communicators".

Nobu at Crown has consequently featured in numerous design magazines.
