When we commenced discussions about the project to fitout new office space for NAB at their inner-city Sydney location, we recognised that the customer had some keen targets to achieve in a short time.
Reflecting NAB’s values of teamwork, transparency, innovation and flexibility was interpreted through building design details such as the extensive use of graphics as well as constructing a relaxed outdoor area. The 200 square metre outdoor deck with barbecue, motorised awning and water feature said a lot about their views on a modern workplace.
In terms of the transformation, there were important considerations, such as achieving a 4 Star Green Star rating in a 51-year old building. Recycling over 85% of the construction waste and working closely with partners was the answer.
Having the main equipment room ready for them to move into just two weeks into construction? The solution here was to burn plenty of midnight oil. In total, we logged an astonishing 126,000 man-hours on the simultaneous construction of several floors with no major accidents or incidents.
The customer was impressed by our capacity to work to such timeframes without losing sight of their expectations about quality.
The project received an MBA award for the category of 2008 Interior Fitout ($5,000,001 to $15 milllion) and the customer was inspired to award ISIS the NAB Invest project in Sydney immediately afterwards.
